I never really knew what I wanted to do. I never really had an end plan like everyone. Sure, I had an idea of what I liked and didn’t like – but could something we enjoy… actually be turned into a profession in the future?
*Life Changing Revelation*
Being Indian, and growing up in the Indian community in Halifax, NS there is a lot of pressure to excel in academics. Perhaps, this is just not in the Indian community, it’s in every community! How can one excel if they do not know what they want? So here I am – My name is Monika and I am a Full time student in the MPR program at MSVU, and I know I want this! I have a science background, with professional experience in mental health, and health promotion. I know it may sound a little odd, but I have secretly always enjoyed the field of PR and Communication. I say secretly because I never thought I would end up here. Any type of PR/Communications experience I have is because of taking on side projects, helping out, or being at the right place, at the right time. I don’t have a lot of experience in public relations but I have ambition and drive to take me forward, and I feel as if this is plentiful when it is infused with hard work and dedication.
I am really looking forward to this semester because this is my last semester before I graduate. I started university in 2002 and I took a 3 year break up until now, I say it’s about time!
I am really looking forward to this class and what it has to offer. I have recognized a few familiar faces, and a few familiar names during our collaborate sessions. I look forward to working and learning from you all this term.
Goodluck everyone!
Monika
